This solid wood (pine) chest of drawers has nine drawers which makes it superb storage. Due to its narrow depth of just 31.5cm, ideal for a hall or landing or anywhere that space is at a premium. The back, drawer bases are all solid wood as can be seen in the photographs. The drawers are also dovetail jointed.


All the original wax was stripped, and then it was scrubbed clean both inside and out. Sanding then began and finally, it was cleaned again. This ensures that the paint will adhere well and thus giving a lasting finish. The top was roughly sanded to give a slightly distressed more industrial-like finish and finished with a custom colour mix wax. It was then buffed to a slight sheen.

Two different shades of acrylic paint have been used to give a slightly aged finish due to the use of shading. A navy was laid down as a base coat followed by a custom mix of a bright green mixed with the navy to give the correct bright green I was after. Then two further layers of the custom green mix were added. Then a wash of navy was added to certain areas and wiped back to ensure the green was still visible underneath. Finally, two coats of dead flat varnish were added to protect the paint finish.

Brass label holders were added to each drawer along with stunning mottled green resin and brass drawer knobs to complete the look.

This truly is a statement piece. Bright, bold and beautiful and certainly a talking point.

This is a genuine vintage piece of furniture and has had a previous life and a story to tell. Therefore, it may have minor imperfections relative to its age and wear and tear over the years. This will not affect its function or detract from its beauty.
