This sideboard/drinks cabinet is a classic piece of vintage retro design. I believe it to be a Beautility piece although there is no makers label. It has two cupboards each having a shelf which makes it ideal for storing glasses and bottles. There are also three central drawers. It is supported on square tapering legs with front to back stretchers. The exterior was cleaned and then sanded. It was then cleaned again before painting began. The body of the sideboard (sides and top) was painted to give a solid black finish with General Finishes Lamp Black Milk Paint. The front was washed with the same black to enhance the pattern as a contrast to the body. The central strip has been finished with gold metal leaf and lacquered for protection. This finish highlights the unusual handles. was then varnished for protection. The interior has been finished with lemon oil.
