This Art Deco cabinet an eye-catching shape with the archtop and the typical Art deco styling. I chose the paint and paper colour with this in mind.

The cabinet has the original two thick glass shelves. It comes with a lock & key to keep all your treasures safe, whatever they may be!

It has two doors so opens wide if needs be but also has internal sliding clips on the opposite door to the lock.

The cabinet was stripped back by removing the back panel, hinges, hardware etc. It was then cleaned before any work began to ensure that any grime and dirt is not sanded further into the wood. It was filled where necessary (although you can't remove all little dings) but any damaged veneer was replaced/ filled and sanded. A step that is important to get the best finish..although not everyone carries out this work. It was then sanded to ensure a smooth as possible surface and also for the best adhesion possible as this process gives the paint a grip to ensure a long-lasting finish.

I use the best quality paints specifically made for furniture refinishing. The paints I use are all acrylic based so aren't prone to chipping. On this cabinet, I chose Dixie Belle Silk range as this is deeply pigmented and hard-wearing with great adhesion. I don't use wax for painting cabinets. I use Varnish as it gives a harder wearing finish. This is very important if the cabinet is to be used for drinks as it will last longer.

The colour I chose from the Dixie Belle range was Black Sands. A rich deep grey shade. in all, I used 3 coats. A light sand in between each coat and left to fully dry between each coat. Then and only then, onto the varnish. Again this was treated in the same way as the paint ....three coats and fully drying time between each. The back panel has been finished in a striking Art Deco style paper with Dark grey, black and gold accents. Understated and elegant I felt this cabinet needed.
All the hardware was cleaned and touched up with gold paint to bring them back to life.
